Docket: T-2417-96

BETWEEN:

IN THE MATTER OF THE CITIZENSHIP ACT

R.S.C., 1985, c. C-29

AND IN THE MATTER OF an appeal from the

decision of a Citizenship Judge

AND IN THE MATTER OF

Saba Said Saad,

Appellant

REASONS FOR JUDGMENT

WETSTON J.

[1]      When you appeared before the Citizenship Judge, your difficulties were that you did not demonstrate an adequate knowledge of Canada and the responsibilities and privileges of citizenship.

[2]      Invariably, when applicants for citizenship come to this Court, they are often nervous. You are obviously nervous. And I have to, in considering your answers to questions, take that into account. And I have done so. But you are not yet ready to become a citizen of Canada. Your knowledge of Canada is still imperfect. You have to study more and you have to prepare more before you return before a Citizenship Judge and make an application for citizenship in this country. It is obvious that you do know some things but your knowledge is inadequate to become a citizen at this time.

[3]      On that basis, the application before me for citizenship is dismissed.
