Docket: IMM-1601-97

BETWEEN:

     GREG DAPO ARIGBE

     Applicant

     - and -

THE MINISTER OF CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION

     Respondent

     REASONS FOR ORDER

McGILLIS, J.

[1]      Despite the able argument of counsel for the applicant, I have concluded that it was reasonably open to the Immigration and Refugee Board ("Board") to reject the evidence of the applicant on the basis that he lacked credibility. In particular, it was open to the Board to impugn the overall credibility of the applicant based on the discrepancies between the port of entry notes and his personal information form concerning his alleged involvement in the Campaign for Democracy movement in Nigeria, as well as his evasive and contradictory evidence on that subject during his refugee hearing. In the circumstances, my intervention in this matter is not warranted.

[2]      The application for judicial review is dismissed. The case raises no serious question of general importance.
